Finish rudder and vertical stab, start on horizontal stab
Oct 9 - Nov 15, 2023 Received all backordered parts. Finished rudder (just needed to add top rib) and finished vertical stabilizer (most of the ribs had been backordered, so it was only 25% done back in September). Did a lot of work on horizontal stabilizer. I’m getting better and more confident with riveting and also removing bad rivets. I haven’t destroyed any parts yet (but don’t want to jinx it)! Mary has picked up a bunch of useful skills: deburring, dimpling, etching, and most recently using the rivet gun on skin rivets while I hold the bucking bar! Mary’s side: I do enjoy working alongside Lou to build the plane. It is his #1 priority and hobby. I don’t share that level of commitment with him but I am willing to partner with him a couple of days a week to work on the plane. I have not been flying in our Cessna 180 for 4 months. I do enjoy flying and we are lucky to live in California where there are lots of great flying destinations. That said, we haven’t been homebound and have had some nice trips in our camper van and going to see our daughter in Madison WI. So with all else going on in the world, I have a lot to be grateful for. It sounds like agility is important in getting in and out of the RV. (I have not flown in one yet. Mainly because I want to fly with Lou and that opportunity has not happened). To work on my agility, I have increased my yoga commitment from 1 times per week to 2-3 times per week plus pilates.
