Start of tailcone riveting
Feb 27 - March 10 2024 The first part of the tailcone involves a lot of metal prep for the internal parts like bulkheads, doublers, and stiffeners. So, lots of deburring and etching and priming. Then the riveting of these pieces was pretty straightforward because it could all be done with pneumatic or hand squeezer. Paul Mantegna came by for another inspection on March 10, prior to attaching bulkheads to skins. He said my rivet quality has improved a lot, which I am happy to hear! In general, I’ve gotten more confident with riveting, and am drilling out far fewer than I used to, which is a big relief. No rework was required after this inspection!
