Built Wing Cradle
12/10/24: I inherited an RV-7 wing cradle from Andrew Clark recently. But it had cutouts for an RV-7 wing cross section, which is different than the RV-14 (which shares the RV-10 wing, just shorter). So, I found some plans for an RV-10/14 cradle, and used the skeleton of Andrew’s cradle as a starting point. I probably tripled the amount of lumber in the cradle by the time it was done! The final cradle is probably way stronger than necessary, but maybe that’s a good thing, in case it can be used down the road to transport the wings to an airport. It hangs the leading edge of the wings in a cradle of carpet, rather than using a cutout to match the wing shape. And has a flat end that supports the wing spar at the other end. Hopefully this will work well when the wings arrive, and hopefully it will allow access to work on the systems installations into the wing.
